I’m a slightly obsessive rock climber (sport, single pitch for those who are interested). Climbing is how I met my partner, how I’ve built a group of amazing strong female friends, it has taken me to some amazing places across the world - we spend most winters living in our van mooching round Europe. But it has also taught me a lot about myself and what I can achieve when I set my mind to it. I’m also dog obsessed, our home is made by our two Romanian rescue dogs. I love all animals and spent some amazing summers working in animal sanctuaries in Namibia and Thailand (this involved a LOT of shovelling poo!). I live in Liverpool and adore the city, but I am from Yorkshire and that is where my heart remains. It’s boss having access to both places and to feel equally at home in the city and the country. This means I have attended extensive training, I maintain my education with regular CPD via the wonderful Celebrant’s Collective and am peer reviewed to maintain my accreditation. As part of my nurse education I completed courses in advanced communication skills and am an experienced palliative care nurse meaning I am highly educated to chat well, and to deal with any tricky issues that may come up on the big day. At the moment celebrant led ceremonies are not legally recognised in England or Wales. But please don’t let this put you off! You can get the ‘paper work’ (as I like to call it) sorted at a register office for £57, this can be done on the same day as your ceremony or anytime before or after! For couples who choose a celebrant led ceremony, this is viewed as their ‘real’ ceremony, the register office legalities are seen as just that – admin.
